2011 WC Qual (Women)
The 2011 Women’s World Championship will be in Brazil, December 2011
This projection assumes that 2011 qualification will follow essentially the same format as previous tournaments. If so the 24 spots would be awarded as follows:

1) Host: Brazil
1) Defending World Champion: Russia
11) Europe (3 + 8 Performance Places):
4) Asia (3 + 1 Performance Place):
3) Africa: Angola, Tunisia, Cote d'Ivoire
3) Pan America:
1) Oceania

Note: The 9 Performance places are based on standings 1st to 9th from the 2009 World Championships: 8 spots were awarded to Europe and 1 to Asia

EUROPEAN QUALIFICATION (11 Nations (3 + 8 Performance Slots))
The format below is a projection based on previous European formats. It will be updated when the EHF announces the official qualification format.

European Championships (7 - 19 December, 2010, Denmark/Norway) (3 Teams Qualify)
16 Nations will participate in the European Championship Finals. The top 3 placed teams, not counting the defending World Champion, Russia, will automatically qualify for the 2011 World Championships. The remaining 12 nations will participate in a home and away 2 game playoff in June 2010.

European World Championships Qualification Group Play (November 2010)
Nations not participating in the European Championships will take part in Qualification Group Play. The 2007 format consisted of 3 groups for 17 teams. The 2009 format might be 4 groups with the winner of each group advancing to the playoffs

European World Championship Playoffs (June 2011)) (8 Teams Qualify)
The bottom 12 teams (not counting Russia) from the European Championships and the 4 qualification group winners would be drawn into 8 pairings. These nations would then play a home and away 2 game playoff with the winner of each pairing qualifying for the World Championships.

PAN AMERICAN QUALIFICATION (3 Nations)

1st Division Championships (2-6 November 2010, Cuba)
The 1st Division Championship is open to all PATHF nations that didn't finish in the top 6 at the previous PATHF Championship. The top two teams from this tournament would move on to the Pan American Championships.

Potential Participants: Cuba, Puerto Rico, USA, Canada, Paraguay

Pan American Championships (June 2011)
Participants: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Uruguay and the top two teams from 1st Division Championships
The top 3 teams (not counting Brazil- 2011 WC host) will advance to the WC

AFRICA QUALIFICATION (3 Nations)

Africa Nations Cup (10-21 February, 2010, Egypt)
Group A: Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Cameroon, Algeria
Group B: Angola, Congo, Republic of Congo, Egypt

Tunisia vs. Democratic Republic of the Congo (A1 vs B4) 40-23
Congo vs. Algeria (B2 vs A3) 26-27

Angola vs. Cameroon (B1 vs A4) 30-17
Cote d’Ivoire vs. Egypt (A2 vs B3) 38-32

Semifinals
Angola vs Cote d'Ivoire 27-24
Tunisia vs Algeria 36-16

Finals
Angola vs Tunisia (for 1st) 31-30
Algeria vs Cote d'Ivoire (for 3rd) 32-28

5) Congo
6) Egypt
