Handball competition is underway at the Central American and Caribbean games. Handball is being played in the Dominican Republic. The top 3 teams in both the Men's and Women's competition will win bids to participate in the 2007 PanAm Games in Rio. The 4th place team (and possibly the 5th place team as well) will play in a repechage tournament with the loser of the Canada-USA competition and the 4th place team from the South American Championships. The Central American 4th place teams will have the first option of hosting the repechage tournament which is tentatively scheduled for February 2007
